The scowl and the smirk
This started as a short social media post yesterday, but as I’ve had 24 hours to ruminate, I decided to expand and elaborate.
Today’s republican party — leaders and followers alike — consist of the absolute dumbest human beings ever to live.
Yesterday, we witnessed yet another session of performative BS outrage by the useless republicans in congress, conjuring up a “gotcha” moment out of thin air, with nobody actually doing any real research or fact checking. Just look at the photo above, especially the scowl being offered by Senator Kennedy. That “look down your nose” stare, eyes piercing the perceived criminal caught in the act red-handed.
Atlanta Hawks. Iowa Hawkeyes. Yeah, guys . . . um, not only is the mascot not the same, we’re also talking about 600 miles driving distance between Atlanta and where Jack Smith was actually taking in a basketball game on the night in question. Like, who the hell conceived of this gotcha plot? Were they drunk or high? Or, an incredibly pertinent question we find ourselves asking more and more of our elected leaders: HOW OLD WAS HE? Did Mitch McConnell come up with this ruse?
If you haven’t seen it by now, go search out the video of this exchange. Watch how calm Jack Smith is, and how angry, hostile, condescending, and aggressive Rep. Schmitt is throughout this entire imaginary GOTCHA! moment. Truly sickening. These are the people that are in charge of every level of the entire federal government now. And they only know how to govern by brute bully force and gaslighting. It's quite pathetic, actually. This was a national embarrassment moment for the entire party.
Monty Python could not write a script this absurdist. It’s almost to the level of yanking scientific funding because they believe scientists are spending taxpayer money trying to turn mice transgender. This crap makes me pull out my hair, and there are so many moments like this, I assume I’ll soon be bald.
And of course the “spin cycle” was quickly at work in the editing room, producing a clip for their disingenuous numbskull fawning followers, who in turn began flooding social media with that “gotcha” moment. And they are commenting on their posts about Jack Smith being a traitor, and how Rep. Schmitt “brought the receipts.” Wow, you guys really owned the libs yet again.
Only, the videos floating around stop before this ridiculous mistake is brought to light in real time — a mistake that not even a high schooler would make. Meanwhile, every other day we see the likes of Scott Bessent, Kevin Hassett, and Howard Lutnik smiling and smirking as they lie in the face of the entire world, telling Americans how booming the economy is, how this administration has created the most jobs in the history of jobs, and how much money we all have thanks to this administration. I dunno. Are at least some of their followers stupid enough to believe this, even as they stare down constantly rising gas and grocery prices?
It just boggles my mind how stupid everyone in this abomination of a political party truly is. To return to the Rep. Schmitt incident: if a democrat were to announce in Congress that Duke will soon play NC State in football, this guy would be screaming something like "HA! NOW WE CAN PROVE THAT YOU TOOK THE DUKE OUT FOR A STEAK!!"
Count on the Department of Transportation soon being renamed the Department of Travel. Because, you know, trans, right? I’m surprised before his speech at the UN that Trump didn’t try to outlaw translators. And didn’t this administration say they were the most transparent in history? Gonna have to rebrand that one, brobeans. Since we’re also into renaming bodies of water, I guess flying from here to Europe should now be referred to only as CrossAtlantic. No more talking allowed about the act of passing or moving through an area, or being “in transit,” as some geriatric republican will likely see that word and think it is an active evil democrat spell placed on things: as in “the demonrats are going to try to trans it!” Pontiac Trans Am cars shall henceforth only be referred to as “Ams.” Or perhaps such a vehicle should be called Trans Am Not? Speaking of diseases being passed from one person to another, can we expect that the root of this problem is to be understood going forward as perpetrated by someone wearing “trans mitts”? Does your trans sister have a radio?
By the way, the President of the United States today signed an Executive Order on AI, as . . . yes this is true . . . “Donald J. Trump, President of the Unites States.” You can’t make this shit up.
I’ve said it before, I’ll keep saying it: IDIOCRACY WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A WORK OF COMEDIC FICTION, NOT A BLUEPRINT.
