Grateful Dead songs played in a crypt

this post is more for my deadhead friends. last year, some friends and I did a full concert of Grateful Dead tunes IN AN ACTUAL CRYPT. It was billed as "Songs of the Dead, Sung for the Dead"

About the space:

"Set on a hillside overlooking Old Trinity Cemetery and formerly a part of the Audubon family estate, The Church of the Intercession is an Episcopal congregation on the border of Harlem and Washington Heights in Manhattan on the grounds of Trinity Church Cemetery. It was founded in 1846 and the current sanctuary, built between 1912 and 1915, was designed by Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue, a master of Gothic Revival style. As the third and final in a series of churches constructed under the same name, the chapel was built in partnership with downtown’s Trinity Wall Street Church. With lower Manhattan’s graveyards already (sometimes literally) overflowing and burial space in high demand, Trinity insisted on the inclusion of a mortuary chapel at the new site to allow for holding of the deceased prior to burial. Later, in the 1920s, the walls of the crypt were carved out to permanently house cremated remains, making the Church of the Intercession the first in the country with its own interior columbarium. The crypt is host to year-round musical events, as well as television and movie shoots, but as far as we know, tonight’s concert is a first for them—and hopefully the first of many!"

not quite sure why this concert has been mostly ignored by the general public, as I'd say it has potential historic implications. but, I guess there is a lot of NOISE out there on social media. so, we're trucking along with our 500 views, hoping that more folks will take notice--maybe someone who wants to sponsor another VIP concert there? (the rental fee is steep, and the FDNY code only allows for 49 bodies in the space at any given time!)

Plus, check out our lineup, which was top-notch:

Kenny Brooks (Bob Weir's Ratdog)
Zach Nugent (Melvin Seals and JGB)
Joe Gallant (John Kadlecik Band, Illuminati Orchestra)
Waynard Scheller (Rainbow Full of Sound, John Kadlecik Band)
Noah Munro Lehrman (Gratefully Yours)
Bex Odorisio (David Bryan and Friends)
Clare Maloney (The Englishtown Project, DB & Friends, Rainbow Full of Sound)
David Bryan (yours truly!)

Anyway, since I've started blogging again, just thought I'd share this on this site as well, in hopes of garnering a few more viewers, and getting our name out there!

IF YOU LIKE THIS VIDEO, PLEASE SHARE IT ON YOUR SOCIAL MEDIA SITES, AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS!!!

p.s. the "brown-eyed women" was with a string quartet playing an arrangement that I composed for this concert. I wasn't too pleased with the sound quality, as we couldn't mic the strings. so I re-recorded: this time in a columbarium on Park Avenue. Know of another crypt of columbarium where we can play? Hit me up!  ;-)

p.p.s. this was how it all started, our submission for 2017 Dead Covers Project in the same space - also with a string quartet arrangement that I wrote.
