Heavy Rain Day

As a newly announced candidate for a seat in the House of Representatives, I guess I need to start outlining my policy positions. And here’s my first one: whenever it rains heavily, everything closes down, period. Everyone who can work remotely and wants to, is more than welcome to do so. But everyone else is given a heavy weather day to just sleep in, curl up with a cat and a book under a blanket by the fire, and just stay home and be dry.

What percentage of Americans enjoy having to don special clothing and footwear and battle extreme elements with a crappy umbrella just because our bosses expect us in the office no matter what? We literally went through an extensive period of time recently in which everything was shut down anyway for months on end, so what’s the big deal if we have an occasional rain day? Think of how much we could do with this gift of additional time. For those not interested in the book under blanket by the fire scenario, you could take this time to catch up on laundry, paying bills, cleaning your abode, or even just sit staring out the window daydreaming. Turn off your brain and give your imagination some time to exercise.

I’m firmly in the camp that less is more with regards to work. We need better work life balance in this current late stage capitalistic collapse, including time to mentally and physically prepare for the actual final collapse itself! So, an occasional rain day can provide for this needed time off.

Plus, it’s obvious that nobody is going to have any money soon anyway — save a handful of billionaires who continue to consolidate all the capital — so can someone explain to me why we’re still expected to go to work 5 days a week in the first place? Add to that the fact that AI is in the opening stages of displacing all of us anyway, so we’d better get used to just sitting around with nothing to do. At least until our number gets punched and government forces come to round us up to deliver us to the nearest detention facility. Then I guess it’ll be something like 18 hours of work per day, seven days a week, so why not let us all enjoy a little extra time off between now and then?

I just hope it isn’t raining when they come for me.
