I got algorithm, I got music, who could ask for anything more? Part 2

The TikTok honeymoon is over lol. I’m still enjoying it, and continue to deepen my understanding of the tools it affords, but it is becoming slightly annoying.

Like all social media sites, there is a simple “scroll” function that just feeds you constant videos in succession. Some of the videos have been great, but now there is a sudden deluge of clips telling you how to get your page to “blow up” or how to “get a push” from the algorithm. I spend so much time learning this app, and have also spent painstaking hours creating original content. Now I have to worry about marketing and placement??

I’m pretty sure I’m stuck in this decades-long artistic position of unrecognizability because I’ve always hated marketing, or at least am pretty dismal at it. And now here I am on yet another site, and being bombarded by content creators with the most asinine posts telling me: “Y’all, TikTok has changed their algorithm again, and if you wanna get tens of thousands of likes and new followers, you have to do this!”

They’re all suggesting different ideas, but the most ridiculous one is where they say something like, “ALL you have to do is go to the create button, just type in some basic text like ‘how is everyone doing today,’ set it to some trending music and post it — and be sure to do this 3 to 5 times each day!”

So, we’re now basically encouraging literal millions of random folks to just start flooding the field with drab content that is 100% devoid of ANY artistic work or thought whatsoever. JUST to “get your name out there.” I think this is downright dumb. And of course it pushes ACTUAL talented folks further down in the feed. I wish these sites had a basic talent requirement to weed out insecure keyboard warriors who just repeatedly post a bunch of soporific crap just for an internet boost. Kind of like the IQ and civics tests they administer for politicians to qualify to run for office in this country, right?

Also, why the hell are these creators passing on this “clandestine information,” when all it’s going to do is create competition for themselves??
