Save the Furbabies!

Short post today, as I have much creative content demanding my attention. But I wanted to take this moment to reach out to all you cat lovers out there. (And animal lovers in general!)

We all see the videos in our daily feed:

“Please support the animals!”

“Help our organization continue to do our good work!”

“We can only make a difference with your donation!”

Here’s one headline you WON’T likely see: “ASPCA CEO Matt Bershadker makes over $1,200,000 per year.”

I know that being a CEO is grueling work, but seriously? A MILLION PLUS DOLLARS? Where do you think that money goes? Well, if this individual is like any other CEO that ever existed, then that money goes towards a lavish primary dwelling, a vacation home, likely a yacht, and who the hell knows what other luxurious items and experiences. I can guaran-damn-tee you it doesn’t go to help the animals. YOU are the ones funding the bill for that - but only after he has made his monthly deposit into his personal account.

That being said, I’d like to introduce you to Sierra Pacific Furbabies, run by the incredible and unshakable humanitarian David Loop.

Even in my current state of unemployment, I am still donating a meager $5 per month to this outfit because I strongly believe in the work they are doing. I constantly see videos on Facebook of David begging for donations — and I honestly doubt he would spend that valuable time making such videos if he was rolling in the dough like Mr. Bershadker. So, my plea to you today: if you have a monthly recurring donation to the ASPCA, why don’t you consider switching that over to Sierra Pacific — or some other local shelter near you, who can really stretch your dollars for the actual cause being claimed?

With David, I not only see his financial appeals, but I daily come across social media updates from his organization: employees actually trapping homeless cats; heartbreaking videos of rescued critters in critical condition before he sends them off to the emergency veterinary hospital (for which they have to foot the bill); absolutely heartwarming videos of him bottle feeding baby kittens individually; and the best reports of them all, when he shows these little ones being formally adopted into their forever homes. I follow the saga of these babies on a regular basis, and almost feel like I'm part of their feline family.

Seriously, y’all. These videos ALL make me cry. And they tell me that my money is being well spent, minute as my donation may be. So, do yourself a favor and RUN to social media right now and “follow” this organization and you’ll see what I’m talking about! I’ll be surprised if you don’t throw your support behind them as a result. And be sure to follow David's personal page, as it has the cutest bottle-feeding videos of all time!

Leave the ASPCA. It’s just for lining pockets already filled to the brim.
