Is there a line in the sand?

A few months ago, I reached one of many breaking points, and — against what I had publicly stated I would NOT do — started unfriending people on Facebook who continue to support this administration. I get that some of my friends are stalwart conservatives, but the monster currently rearing its ugly head in this country is in no way conservative whatsoever. I don’t need to provide the long laundry list of everything that has transpired over the last nine months. It’s out there in plain sight to all who would open their eyes and minds.

But I do still have a number of conservative folks in my feed. Including some who don’t even really like Trump, but voted for him regardless of reason. And although they will likely not even see this post due to Facebook’s ostensible censoring of most of my content, I have to ask them — and you, whoever you are reading this. If you still think this government is doing good for the country and its inhabitants: IS there a line in the sand?

Is there ANYTHING this administration can do or say that will finally make you think, “Wait a minute, what? I just can’t get behind this anymore!” A bunch of y’all still seem totally on board with the constant, continuing evisceration of our Constitution, but I think we can all finally see who we’re really dealing with here. They aren’t even trying to hide it anymore.

The MAGA party has been taken over by LITERAL NAZIS. I’m assuming we all saw the leaked Young Republican text chain, right? The one that THE VICE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES MADE EXCUSES FOR? In addition to homophobic, racist and misogynistic messages — glorifying rape, for instance — this, and a subsequent text chain also included the following verbatim quotes:

“Can we fix the showers? Gas chambers don’t fit the Hitler aesthetic.”

“Everyone that votes no is going to the gas chamber.”

“I’m ready to watch people burn now.”

“I do have a Nazi streak in me from time to time, I will admit it.”

“I love Hitler.”

So, remaining so-called Republican holdouts: Is this not crossing a line for you?? Because I’m sorry to tell you this, but if this isn’t going too far — if this doesn’t make you recoil in horror and rethink your position — THEN YOU ARE A NAZI.

I know people in this administration, as well as a bunch of their followers, keep saying “Stop calling us Nazis!” And I think most of us on “the left” would resoundingly respond in unison: “WE’LL STOP CALLING YOU NAZIS IF YOU STOP SAYING AND DOING NAZI SHIT!”

It doesn’t get any more plain and clear than the text chain above. The cat is out of the bag, and if you still have anything to do with the cat — or even the bag for that matter — then you honestly should just admit the quiet part out loud as they have: that you support this, that you also think this way, and that there is literally no line you can draw in the sand which would prevent you from doing so in perpetuity. Plain and simple.

You either repudiate this rhetoric publicly and immediately, and disavow yourself of this administration, or else you’re a Nazi.
